Make It Work!

We're down to the wire on prepping for Thanksgiving. At this moment it is an hour and ten minutes until Turkey Day. All day today I've been trying to get the house in order for tomorrow. My family has helped a ton, too. Joel organized the laundry room, cleared the table, and swept and mopped the floors before he had to head to work. Zoe and Thomas helped fold towels. Zoe also helped with a bunch of the general pick-up stuff. I scrubbed down my stove today, organized some of the random boxes that still haven't been unpacked from the move, and hung artwork on the walls. (We actually have unpacked and organized more of our stuff at this place than we ever did at our previous place. Unpacking is obviously not my forte.) Right now I am waiting for my cheesecake to finish baking. It should be done right around the time Joel get home from work.

Tomorrow morning we'll be in Make It Work mode. The unfolded laundry will be shoved into baskets and shoved into inconspicuous places. The last few boxes will be tucked into the kids' closet. The carpets will be vacuumed and the bathrooms will be wiped down. I will make the sweet potato casserole, the mashed potatoes, and the peas.

Even though the prepwork has been stressful, I'm thankful to be able to host. I'm thankful to live near family so they can come to my place. I'm thankful to have plenty of food to serve to everyone.
